Eliezer Ben-Rafael PhD (1974) in Sociology, University of Jerusalem. He is Emeritus Professor of the Tel-Aviv Univeristy. He was Weinberg Professor of Sociology, the President of the International Institute of Sociology and Chair of the Israeli Association for the Study of Language. He has published on ethnicity and language in Israel, the transformation of the kibbutz, Jewish identities and aspects of contemporary globallizatition. He is editor of a Brill series in Jewish idenities and founder and head of the Klal Yisrael Project, Tel-Aviv University. He received the 2009 Landau Prize for Life Achievement in Sociology.
