\n Hanna Herzog<\/strong> is Professor Emerita of Sociology at Tel Aviv University. Co-Director and co-founder of WIPS \u2013 the Center for advancement of Women in the Public Sphere, Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. Director of the Director of the National Knowledge Center of Women and Gender (in development).\n <\/p>\n

 As scholar she specializes in political sociology, political communication, sociology of knowledge, generation as a sociological phenomenon, and sociology of gender. She has written many articles on the politics of ethnic and racial relations, women in politics and politics of women, Palestinian women citizens of Israel, Jewish women in the Holocaust, and gender, religion and politics.<\/p>\n

 As a scholar of Israeli society with special expertise in ethnic relations and gender issues, she has been invited to serve on many national committees. Herzog has been active in the public sphere in lobbying for women\u2019s issues, and in the struggle against gender discrimination. Believing in gender mainstreaming she sees her role in research, teaching and public activity as a tool to develop a new culture of gender equality and social justice.<\/p>\n
