“The relationship between internal migration and mortality in sub-Saharan Africa“

Naftali Building, Room 527 | Tusday, October 20 | 14:00-16:00

Vast numbers of people move within their country of birth – at least eight times more than the number of international migrations. At the individual level, being in good health in their place of origin often allows people to migrate. At the same time, their migration is a determinant of health and survival in their destination. Moreover, the health and survival of an individual’s family or household members may drive migration, or be affected by the migration of the individual. This seminar explores this complex relationship between internal migration and mortality in sub-Saharan Africa, where mortality remains relatively high.
