As a sociologist and demographer specializing in social stratification and health, I study the social determinants of longevity and inequality in human lifespans. My research has been published in leading scientific journals including Science, JAMA, Demography, Social Science & Medicine, and Journals of Gerontology.

My other research interests include quantitative methodology, environmental demography, and the sociology of knowledge and data production. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses on both theory and methods, ranging from Theories of Social Stratification and Inequality to Hierarchical and Longitudinal Data Analysis and Big Data Methods for Social Science.
